Virtual number for business: how it works and why it is profitable

The popularity of virtual telephony (also called IP-telephony) is associated with the convenience of communication and ease of use of such services. It is not surprising that they are beginning to supplant conventional telecom operators, offering lower tariffs and greater opportunities. Recently, virtual numbers have been especially fond of businessmen. Similar to regular phone numbers, their virtual counterparts are not tied to any particular address and do not require the purchase of equipment or SIM cards.

Virtual Number Features

There are two main types of virtual numbers: landline, which allows the client to think that you are in the same city, and mobile, which also allows you to receive SMS. The general scheme of work is as follows:

  1. You acquire a virtual number of a certain type and set up call forwarding to other equipment (for example, to employees' smartphones).
  2. The client calls the number, the call is redirected to the device.
  3. If necessary, you can change the number or buy others (for example, to create the illusion of a branched network with offices in different regions), while you do not have to buy any new equipment.

Standing alone is the purchase of a short mobile number of 3-5 digits. On the one hand, it is easy to remember, it is one for all operators and you can set up a free call for the buyer. But on the other hand, such numbers have long been associated with paid subscriptions and cause concern for the client. Although no one bothers to buy a virtual number for 3-5 digits along with the classic version.

How a virtual number allows you to save

Buying a virtual number allows you to save on three things, which often become the largest expense graphs of companies, namely:

  • on the installation. Even an ordinary user can install and configure applications for using virtual numbers. The administrator of your work network will definitely cope with this;
  • on equipment. To use this type of connection, computers (which you already must have) and headsets are enough. You do not need to buy any special telephone sets or, especially, PBXs;
  • on the cost of communication. The minimum cost of the provider to organize calls allows you to set low prices.

A competent approach to organizing communications in the company will significantly save on equipment and subscription fees.
